Preparations for my upcoming solo show in May this year are under way. There's so much to paint and so little time. The timeline is daunting, the process sometimes frustrating, but the outcome is always something I'm proud of.
Every artwork has its challenges, but there is always something new I learn about myself, the techniques, the process, and the colours. This latest artwork, entitled 'Dreamer' is featured on the largest canvas I've worked on thus far. A whopping 180 x 200cm! The feeling behind what it's about I hope will become obvious to the viewer, however I'll explain it after I'm finished ;) Follow me on Instagram @livingwithyoo and @haejinyooart for regular updates.
With a solo show fast approaching in May 2020, I am officially a 'busy bee'. My approach to work is that when I'm not in the zone for one painting, I move onto the next.
I currently have three large works in progress. Here's a snapshot of what my hallway looks like at this moment :)
At the beginning of October, I attended the 'Anima Mundi' Exhibition in Venice, Italy and showcased my 'Friendship Ending' piece from the Bouquet Series. It was the first time I've visited Venice, and it was an absolute pleasure to be invited to exhibit there. The opening night was buzzing with a great energy and I met many wonderful people. If you're interested in taking the class yourself, here's the experience we booked on Airbnb.
The class is in Venice, so no need to travel to Murano for this one.
Another painting. Another happy customer :)

Over the weekend, I was very pleased to have been awarded the Public Vote Award for the NOWART exhibition that was showcasing throughout May in Werrkunst Gallery, Hamburg.
The award ceremony took place at the Werrkunst Gallery in Bergamo, Italy where I was presented a personalised plaque. As a winner, I will be exhibiting my work in Werrkunst Gallery, Bergamo, Italy at a date yet to be announced. Watch this space!! :) It was my first trip to Italy and it blew me away. The country is simply stunning, the weather superb, and the people were nothing but welcoming. If you ever get the chance to visit Northern Italy, be sure to check out Lake Como. The views will take your breath away! HJx
During October I was commissioned to create a painting for a new music video for Australian Soul Sensation, Luke Antony.
Luke releases his take on Cyndi Lauper's iconic song, 'True Colors'. Featured in the official video are Australian Artist Haejin Yoo (me) and The World's First Super Model with Down Syndrome, Madeline Stuart. It was such a fun experience to be a part of. Having never done live painting before, I was a little nervous, but planned the composition and the colours well in advance. I hope you enjoy the video.
Here's on of my newest artworks called Autumn Fall. Autumn Fall is a mixture of white and grey acrylics and gold leafing with red and green washes creates an abstract wintery forest that may leave you with the desire for a bowl of hot soup and a toasty fireplace. The original is available for sale at $1,350 and comes framed in a delicate and sharp gold wooden frame. Contact me for more info. This artwork and many others from the Seasons & Places series are on display at Taylor Square, Darlinghurst for the Sydney Fringe Festival 2016 until Monday 19th September.
Gods & Goddesses is a limited series from Haejin Yoo. Each image creatively throws the viewer into an imaginary setting that describes a moment of one of the pinnacle stories from Greek Mythology.
5 original copies available for order. Orders may take approximately 2 weeks to produce and deliver. Framed 18 x 24 cm $280 for each ![]()
Tonight was a special night for the One Wave Is All It Takes crew, who held an event at the Bucket List, Bondi Beach. The purpose was to raise money for their crowd funding campaign in hopes of launching a community surfing program that helps those who suffer from mental illness.
Being a proud supporter of OneWave and similar charitable causes, I decided to donate an art piece called 'Swallow' to enter a silent auction where all proceeds go towards OneWave's goal of reaching $50,000. A bit about OneWave OneWave is a non-profit surf community tackling mental health issues with a simple recipe: salt-water, surfing, good mates and Fluro Friday’s. Since launching in Bondi in 2013, OneWave, has reached over 50 beaches Worldwide, raising awareness and reducing social stigmas around mental health issues through our Fluro Friday sunrise sessions, OneWave Surfing Experience and colourful social media activity.
