crane picnic‘Crane Picnic’ is a surreal portrayal of the artist’s husband and his character. He longs for social gatherings yet sits peacefully alone, content by applying sunscreen in the sunshine, and what accompanies his imagination. The imagination of three cranes, who symbolize unconditional love, devotion, and good fortune, gather around the picnic blanket creating a social atmosphere and complimenting his placid and solitudinous nature.

the daydreamer‘The Daydreamer’ is another surreal depiction of the artist’s husband whose mind is extremely creative and imaginative, and often hidden under a somewhat catatonic daze. While the Hospital gown represents the real world, there’s solemn in acknowledging the freedom that comes from being caught in your own world. Like the sea turtle that swims from ocean to ocean, no matter where you are, your mind is free.

the island‘The Island’ is a large-scale nude portrait of the artist’s husband who portrays an island surrounded by ocean. It tells a story that indicates love and the confinement in the artist’s life, while being separated from reality. It shows the artist’s subconscious reliance on her husband. The painting of the husband is very detailed yet the painting of the sailboat, which represents the painter, has little strength in the composition. It shows the artist’s fragility in herself to get across the wild water to the island, which seductively calls her in.
